The good sections are very good, and more than make up for the rest. This little handbook which is about the size of my hand; very small! It's set up as a practical book of various aspects of life during the Regency period of English, and reads much like a guidebook to tell readers specifics in little bullet-point lists.
Overall it felt informative and interesting; I've watched a lot of period pieces from the early 's and read a number of 19th century novels, so it was a nice change to read about the details of daily life. I liked the book and am happy to have purchased it; it's good reference material and fun knowledge to have.
This is an amazing guidebook for Jane Austen fans. It's useful and entertaining and even if you're not writing a paper on Jane Austen but you're a fan of hers, this is a nice addition for more insight into her time and the setting of her novels. Good information about Jane Austen's world. Puts books and movies in context.

Read several books together about Jane Austen. Much overlapped and provided comparable insights.
Yet each was unique. She is a lifelong geek who spends her time learning, writing, homeschooling her two wickedly smart kids, losing herself in history, and mastering the art of traveling on a shoestring. Notify me of follow-up comments by email.

The Jane Austen Handbook: Do you have a color Nook or the classic Nook?
Those lucky enough to have a color Nook will find cool features in this edition. There are live links to notes, figures and Internet sites. Since the author is an advocate for eBooks from way back, I am sure she will be thrilled with this added feature. The color illustrations are beautiful too.
I am trying to rationalize buying a color Nook too and I think I have found my excuse. Since it has a full web browser, I can connect to the Internet while I am sitting at the Jane Austen conference next Fall in Fort Worth and Tweet and Facebook to everyone about the conference.
Now that I have given myself permission, now I must find the funds. Oh, and of course I will use the beautifully formatted Jane Austen Handbook for research and enlightenment. I really am impressed with the formatting.
Many nook books have words that run together.
