When you donate your time, skills, or money, you are generally doing it to make something better. Whether you help build a house, or provide library books or a school to children, or help fund research for a disease, the world is becoming a slightly better place with each donation. As you become generous, you feel powerful and walk taller.

You see the world in a more positive light. As you notice the plight of others, your perspective shifts and you don't look upon your own problems as much. The little things can be ignored, because you realize how little they truly are. Even though the world didn't really change, your perspective causes you to look at it in a better light. But it can go even farther than that. You can lead by example to help the world become a better place that values generosity and sharing. By encouraging others to pay it forward, you can truly feel some comfort in knowing that when you ever need help, there is a good chance that there will be someone there to help you in your time of need.

This allows you to take reasonable chances and walk in the world unafraid.

Any day is a good day to do good deeds. There is no time like the present to do something nice for someone. It is on April 26 every year. The website provides lots of ideas for the different activities people are doing around the world, ideas about what you can do, business cards you can print to share the message, and a place where you can share your stories.

There are so many reasons to do good deeds that go way beyond simply helping the recipient of the deed. You may question your own motivation if you are giving for these reasons instead of giving simply for the sake of giving. I understand the questioning, since some benefits just feel ickier than others. In the end though, no matter what reasons you choose for giving, you should continue to give. Your contribution, no matter what the intention is behind it, will still help make you a better person and the world a better place.

Doing good deeds for other people lets them know that they are important, and the assistance you provide helps them get through their lives in a more enjoyable way. In our family, each person gets to cultivate his or her strengths, and together as a family, we can all work together for the greater benefit of the family. The focus of this article is helping others, and returning a valuable item is indeed a good thing to do. Whether it is noble depends on how you acquired the piece the condition you returned it in, and how long you kept it.

You're right, sometimes good deeds help you get along with society. Other times, we do good deeds because that is a part of who we are, it is just what we do.

Being in a society, It is our responsibility to do good deeds, by helping people, who needs our help. This will make us a real human being. We do want to make sure God sees us doing good deeds instead of bad ones. Thank you Au fait for your insight, comment, vote and share. That's true, there are ample opportunities to show kindness to everyone.

Thank you sgbrown for your comment, compliment, and vote. It is easy to get busy in the hustle and bustle of daily life and forget the important things. They don't take a lot of time and make such a big difference. Every time I stop by to read one of your hubs I am thoroughly impressed and motivated.

Thanks for another quality read! Voted up and shared. What a wonderful hub! I have always loved the "pay it forward" concept. What a wonderful movie that was! If we all just pay a little attention when we go out, there is always someone who could use a good deed. We tend to walk around blindly, focus on our own needs to often.

If we just look, we can find a good deed that needs to be done. Voting up and awesome! Lots of good reasons to help people less fortunate than oneself and to basically do the right thing. Doing good doesn't 'save' you, but it does show that you are a child of God and that you are in fact already 'saved. This is a time in our world's history when there are more than ample opportunities to practice random acts of kindness, so I hope everyone will take advantage and go out and do as many good deeds as they can every day.

What does it mean that good works are the result of salvation?

Thank you CloudExplorer for your comment, insight, vote and share. Doing good deeds makes us feel good and could make the world a better place. There is a day to observe practically everything, and while good deeds should be performed every day, a special day makes the impact more noticeable. I enjoyed reading it and I've always been a fan of Suze Orman. I didn't know it was an international day of observance. I try to give as much as I can in as many ways as I can. I've already missed to much in life to not show graditude, to not give back to others. May just be a kind word to someone, tithes or gifting to others Again I really enjoyed this article.

Powerful hub here, oh yes good deeds is definitely something I fully comprehend, and it's a universal truth actually. Your hub has fully expressed the love emotion as well, the pay it forward concept was beautiful to use a s an example here Millionaire Tips. I loved that movie so much, and I always helped people as a child, but never knew why I had, it just felt right and so in adulthood its increased as well.

This is something everyone should read, and learn to apply to their life if they never thought about the truest benefits to that of all humanity if we all learn to do good deeds for each other worldwide. Thank you Wendell, a lot of people do try to practice this, but you're right, just imagine the impact we would all make as a world community if everyone tried to look out for the others to help them out.

Thank you Cyndi - I hadn't thought of that as a quote, but I guess I would almost want to change it to every day is a good day to do good deeds. Thanks for the share.

Thank you for doing a good deed to share my hub. I appreciate your kindness - it certainly has helped me. So true, this world would be a much better place if everyone practiced the act of giving with regularity.

Hi, I like "any day is a good day to do good deeds. Thanks Millionaire Tips, this is a wonderful hub and should be shared with everyone. We demonstrate the best in human values when we share and do good for others. Good deeds really do as much positively for us as they do for those people we help. Volunteering is a great way to help your business, since you can meet people from different walks of life. These people can help you by being customers, or provide the networking contacts to get supplies and other resources and support for your business.

I'm planning to volunteer, and I had even before I read this wonderful Hub! I think that doing a good deed while meeting people can help me with my business. I appreciate the vote, comment, and the share. I just found about International Pay it Forward Day while doing research for this hub - I'm glad to pass the message on. What a thoughtful and considerate hub on good deeds! I agree with you that helping others is very good and also help ourselves by forgetting about our own problems!

As a result, the world would be a better place. Thank you for bringing Pay it Forward Day into light - I have not heard about it till now through you! Green Lotus, that's true, sometimes we need to be reminded until it becomes a part of our nature, and even then a little reminder now and then doesn't hurt. Thank you for commenting. Thank you, Millionaire Tips, for linking back to my hub on charitable giving. I think our views complement each other well. It is good to give for the sake of giving alone. Sally's Trove has presented her motivations for giving in her hub and I will be modifying my hub to bring up that topic.

Thank you Sally's Trove and jenniferg Thank you SanneL, I wasn't thinking of this hub as being an act of giving, but I guess in a way it is. Thanks for helping me see it that way. I had written a hub on charitable giving quite a while ago. Feedback If you need help or have a question for Customer Service, contact us.

Doing good works is like advertising, and it brings glory to God.

A major part of the Roman culture was polytheism and worship of the emperor. Furthermore, brutality and slavery were normal parts of daily life. Dangerous and even deadly events such as the Circus Maximus where the chariot races occurred and the coliseum were often the talk of Rome, and every slave was defenseless against harsh conditions, inhuman treatment, and sexual advances. In contrast to the culture around them, Christians separated themselves from idolatry, brutality, and sexuality.

Doing good works to please God

They refused to participate in the worship of the traditional gods, which they considered idols, and of the emperor. Furthermore, they avoided the violent games of the Romans as well as the sexual promiscuity of the day. In our modern world, which understands multiculturalism and individuality, that separation would be seen as simply a matter of choice.

But in ancient Rome, national unity was expressed in the common worship of the gods and the emperor, and by participation at the games, festivals, and sacrifices. Unbelievers usually have no trouble with Christians who just go to church on Sunday, play Christian music and have a fish bumper sticker on their car.

Authentic values are those by which a life can be lived, which can form a people that produces great deeds and thoughts.

But if we publicly express that salvation comes through Christ alone, or that God will judge people for disobedience, or if we try to embed Christian morals into our increasingly selfish and godless society, then we incur the wrath of those who do not believe. We need to pay attention to the parallel between the first century and today, because God told the first century believers how to let their lights shine, and they will shine now in the same way they shone in the Roman world. Comparing verses such as Matthew 5: While that certainly is a good work, and even a great work, it is not the type of good work that is conspicuous to unbelievers.

We should pay special attention to the last half of verse 25, about good works that do not seem to be noticed. It is very frustrating and demoralizing to do good things and have nobody notice. Of course there are people who get saved only by hearing the message of Christ without really knowing any Christians. That is why Christians are to preach the Word whether it is convenient or not 2 Tim.

The last thing we want as Christians is for the same judgment God leveled against the Jews to be leveled against us: Zealous for Good Works A major way to get unbelievers see the value of the Gospel is to do good works, so it make sense that the Bible says Christians are to be zealous to do good works. Being zealous to do good works is in contrast to the way worldly people act:
